Kim Jong-min Gifts a 3-Carat Diamond Ring to His 11-Year Younger Fiancée

Kim Jong-min, a member of the co-ed group Koyote, goes shopping for a proposal ring for his fiancée, who is 11 years younger than him.

On the February 19th episode of Channel A’s Men’s Life These Days – Groom Class (hereafter Groom Class), airing at 9:30 PM, Kim Jong-min prepares for his April wedding. With the help of his Koyote bandmate Baekga, he visits a jewelry store to find the perfect proposal ring. During the process, he also meets with a financial expert to gain a better understanding of financial concepts.

Shopping for the Perfect Proposal Ring

Before heading to the jewelry store, Kim Jong-min undergoes some “groom care” to sharpen his jawline. At the store, he meets up with Baekga and brings up a recent proposal trend, saying, “Not long ago, (Kim) Jun-ho proposed to (Kim) Ji-min with a 2-carat diamond ring. Apparently, proposal rings are very important these days.”

The two then browse various wedding rings, including a 3-carat diamond ring, but Kim Jong-min is visibly shocked by the hefty price tags.

Baekga asks, “How much were you planning to spend?” to which Kim Jong-min honestly replies, “I hadn’t really thought about it. Since this is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, I want to get the best one possible. But it’s a tough decision.”

Seeking Financial Advice

Overwhelmed by the decision, Kim Jong-min’s eyes become teary as he struggles with the pressure. He later meets with a financial expert introduced by Baekga.

When they meet, Kim Jong-min confesses, “I have no financial sense at all. With marriage coming up, I feel like this is something I really need to learn.”

The financial expert bluntly asks, “Aren’t you worried about people around you scamming you?” Taken aback, Kim Jong-min experiences a moment of “eye shock” before admitting, “There have been a lot of scammers in my life.”

He then shares, “The first scam I fell for was in the alcohol business. To make up for it, I tried investing in a PC café, a grilled tripe restaurant, a pork belly restaurant, a clothing store, and various other ventures. But they all ended in failure.”

Hearing this, the studio panel wonders, “Has Baekga also been scammed a lot?” Kim Jong-min nods, saying, “Yes, he has. In fact, Koyote became known for having ‘open wallets’ because of how often we got taken advantage of.”

Planning for Married Life

The financial expert then asks, “Have you found a newlywed home yet?”

Kim Jong-min responds, “I’m just starting to look. My current lease will end next year, so for now, we plan to start our married life in a rental apartment.”

The expert then offers practical advice, saying, “From now on, you and your fiancée should start dating in a different way,” and proceeds to suggest a unique and financially responsible approach to dating.
