Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (Xu Xiyuan), wife of Clon member Koo Jun-yup, is set to be laid to rest at Jinbaoshan Cemetery in Taiwan.
According to multiple Taiwanese media outlets, including ETtoday, on the 5th, Hsu’s family had initially considered a tree burial but later decided on a traditional burial for various reasons.
After visiting multiple locations, Koo Jun-yup reportedly decided that Jinbaoshan would be the best place for Hsu’s final resting place. However, Taiwanese media stated that neither Koo nor Hsu’s family has made an official statement regarding this decision.
Jinbaoshan Cemetery is also the final resting place of renowned singer Teresa Teng, actor Li Wen, and model-actor Godfrey Gao.
Barbie Hsu passed away on February 2 due to complications from influenza accompanied by pneumonia while on a family trip to Japan. She was 48 years old. Following her cremation in Japan, Koo Jun-yup and her family brought her ashes back to Taiwan on February 5.
On February 6, Koo Jun-yup shared his grief on Instagram, saying, “Right now, I am in indescribable sorrow and pain, as if my heart is being torn apart. I have no strength to speak, nor do I want to.”
Although he initially planned for a tree burial, after discussions with her family, they decided to opt for a traditional burial instead. Reports indicate that some local residents had raised concerns about keeping Hsu’s ashes at their home during the interim.
Barbie Hsu was a top Taiwanese star best known for her role as Shan Cai in Meteor Garden, the 2001 Taiwanese adaptation of the Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers. She was also well known in Korea for her romantic love story with Koo Jun-yup.
The two first met in Taiwan in 1998 and began dating, but their relationship ended after a year due to long-distance challenges and opposition from their agencies.
After Hsu divorced Chinese billionaire businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2021, Koo Jun-yup reached out to her after more than 20 years. The two rekindled their love and got married in 2022. Hsu had one son and one daughter from her previous marriage.
